I open the ubuntu software centre, click 'Turn on Recommendations' at
the bottom, the window freezes for a second, then returns having had no
effect, subsequent clicks do not cause the freeze. 'Turn On
Recommendations' from the global menu produces a warning about

Firefox will allow me to add the device and then it will sync as usual,
however, once I have restarted my computer, all of the synced passwords
etc. are still present, but the browser has gone back to a state of not
being synced with anything.

I think I too suffer from this, and that it has not been solved, when I
resume from suspend I cannot see any wireless networks in the applet,
and un-ticking then ticking 'Enable Networking' doesn't seem to help.
Also, when I run sudo /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart, I get the
message sudo:
