I was affected by the same bug as you following the Linux
5.8.0-49-generic kernel update (everything is ok with the
5.8.0-48-generic kernel)
However, the problem has been solved with the X.org update which has
been available for a few hours.
Can you look for new updates available
The i386 architecture has not been removed entirely in the latest
versions of Ubuntu.
Cleaning should be possible.
Please note, Linux kernel 5.4 must be available for Ubuntu 18.04 i386
with Ubuntu LTS enablement (also called HWE or Hardware Enablement)
stacks.

I got gitk to not crash by installing unifont package. E.g.
sudo apt install unifont
the font isn't displayed in gitk properly (shows up as an empty square)
but at least gitk no longer crashes

I now have this exact same issue with KUbuntu 19.10.
Device Manager worked fine in KUbuntu 19.04 but then I upgraded to 19.10
(do-release-upgrade) and now get exactly the same hang of the kubuntu-
driver-manager
The commands "ubuntu-drivers list" , "ubuntu-drivers debug" and "ubuntu-drivers
I now have this exact same issue with KUbuntu 19.10.

Cannot choose ISO image when disc inserted in CD drive

the iso is owned by me and my group. Because I can't select the iso I
can't make a usable USB distribution stick. I am able to create USB
sticks on another computer running and earlier version of Linux Mint and

This is occurring all the time with each and every single kernel auto update.
This is just nightmare since months and months!
This is affecting all my Ubuntu 14.04.x LTS distributions including Studio as

I tried. Running the program from

as sudo ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-346.47.run
results in the following:

This bug is still persistent, however it has changed from everything
being ignored to some things being ignored. In otherwords, now some
things that startup at login aren't even listed in the autostart dialog
box, making it impossible to turn things off that you do not want to
startup on login.
Ok after taking a closer look it seem that lxsession is not including
etc/xdg/upstart as something it manages in the autostart tab. Things
located in this directory needs to be altered manually at this point to
keep things from starting up.

Same shit since few months with again and again each new kernel update on my
Ubuntu 14.04.1 64-b full install.
I'm only using the official Ubuntu update channel.
Fortunately this version is a LTS one, if not guess what.

Just confirming that I created a USB boot device using Startup Disk
Creator a few days ago using Ubuntu 14.04 for a 14.10 installation iso
and got the same problem on booting a Lenovo Thinkpad X230 (i5 CPU)
laptop.
