I haven't had a lockup for a month but I'm not sure it's actually fixed
or not. I've done two things since the last lockup that might have
increased the stability of my system.
1.) A couple of days after my last lockup, I upgraded my hard disk to a
larger one. There was nothing wrong with the old

It's been six days and I still haven't had a lockup. I longest I've gone
without a lockup in karmic was 2-3 days, so I think it's fixed.

It's way too early for me to say if it fixed it but I added the xorg-
edger's ppa 2 days ago (on Karmic w/ newest official kernel) and I
haven't had a lockup since. I also haven't updated anything from that
ppa since then.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed but knowing my luck I'll have a lockup

Let me clarify the kernel I'm using. It's still 2.6.31-15, I didn't
update to the one just released.

Well, I tested the zen kernel 2.6.32_rc8-1 in Arch Linux and got a
lockup after a few hours. It looks like this bug won't be fixed for a
while...

When you experience these lockups, does your entire screen change to a
single color?
Which kernel version are you running on Jaunty that doesn't have these
lockups?
I hope we're experiencing the same bug and an expert can chime in to
help us.
