If the ALSA default is PulseAudio, you can change PulseAudio's default card
with pacmd.
$ pacmd list-sinks | less
$ pacmd set-default-sink [index number]
It's really the fallback card for apps that haven't told PulseAudio what card
they want to use. One of those apps, of course, is ALSA.

The right-click bug is fixed in Intrepid, and I believe it is fixed in

I think edubuntu-desktop-kde is to be installed in place of the
regular edubuntu-desktop metapackage, but edubuntu-addon-kde is to be
installed alongside it. Why they aren't one in the same is beyond me.
Krita probably isn't appropriate for Edubuntu, it's more of a
professional product.
Confirmed with latest kdesudo version on 8.04.1.
kdesu.distrib works as expected.

This seems to be a bug in menu and not any particular window manager. It

Binary package hint: kdesudo
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Kubuntu 7.10.
2. Press Alt+F2 and run: kdesudo kwrite
3. Close KWrite
4. Launch KWrite normally with: kwrite
5. KWrite will complain about a read-only config file.
This has long been the reason why Ubuntu users
Success! When I removed kdesudo, kubuntu-desktop stayed intact (it's a
recommendation) and kdesu took over.

I just realized that whether or not the icons behave correctly depends on if
they are in PNG or XPM format. Firefox has a PNG icon, Rhythmbox uses an XPM
icon.
Also: check out ~/.nautilus/metafiles. The one for your desktop contains XML
entries for each icon; I added
icon_scale=2.56

In Ubuntu Gutsy beta, the update-menus command is not run after the
menu package is installed. This has a very bad effect with fluxbox -
the right-click menu won't work until sudo update-menus is run.

appears over the MythTV full-screen window.

I suppose you could run update-menus as root and it might go to
/etc/X11/fluxbox where it's actually supposed to be.

Here are the contents of my default ~/.fluxbox/menu:

[include] (/etc/X11/fluxbox/fluxbox-menu)
[end]
But the new menu package no longer has a /etc/X11/fluxbox/fluxbox-menu file.
I really don't know where it's been moved to, though.
