Same Problem here. kmix only shows analog Output which is working, but
could not choose digital Output.
System Kubuntu 10.10
Onboard Sound ICH10: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10
Family) HD Audio Controller
Alsa seems correctly detected the digital Output Device:

For me, using pavucontrol worked. But the Problem resist, that the
Phonon's device preferences only show the device selected with
pavucontrol, not all available devices.

Hi Miesnerd,
as you can see, this Bug report dont have your symptoms. See the first
sentence After a fresh install of Karmic Beta. So this bug dont appear
during boot up a live CD, it appears after a clean install, and when you
choose Disk encryption.

I got a workaround for my Installation Problem:
I reorderd the two hardisks::
749GB (raid 0)
220mb (raid 1)
So the root Partion which is Placed in the crypted LVM at Raid 0 is now
md0_crypt. Now it boots.
It seems the crypted LVM Device must be the first Raid device (maybe).

Hi Paul Larson,
I think this is not a duplicate of 448981, because in that bug is described
that the /var/log/syslog countains error messages.
In my case the var/log/ files are all empty.

Binary package hint: cryptsetup
After a fresh install of Karmic Beta at two equal 750GB disks with raid and
crypto, the system hangs while booting.
The two software raids are assembled succesfull and the crypt partion is opened
succesfull. (After entering password)
