Since upgrading to 24.04, whenever I get a crash report on the system,
Apport will pop up the "report problem" dialog in a loop, regardless of
whether I choose "Send" or "Don't send".
Only thing that helps is removing the crash report from `/var/crash`. If
I don't do that

I don’t understand why the upgrade option was presented if it is known
to be problematic. The upgrades should have been suppressed until a
clean upgrade is available.
In the meantime, what else do you need to help with
I'm not sure why the user authentication is failing for you with
go-l2tp's kl2tpd, you could try disabling all of the authentication
methods in the PPP settings other than MSCHAPv2.
You could also try switching to xl2tpd and see if you have the same
problem, e.g.:
sudo apt install xl2tpd

clamav-freshclam.service updates the clam database, and updates the
/var/log/clamav/freshclam.log.
logwatch does nothing to update "it". It only reviews the freshclam.log
file, looking for certain markers, to indicate that updates occurred, or
if there were any
I can see two issues here that might explain "system gets jammed":
(a) sda (The Western Digital 80GB hard disk) is experiencing hardware
errors which can cause long freezes.
(b) nouveau doesn't have adequate firmware which can cause freezes
(actually nouveau can cause freezes regardless).
It can also happen if you accidentally press the Super (Windows) key.

Working with Andreas Hasenack, we determined that the larger of the two
included patches was actually not included in the code of 1.0.7 and
after testing I found out it was not needed. For that reason, I'm
uploading a new .debdiff and this will need another upload.

The upload in jammy-unapproved[1] contains patches for two other lp
bugs:
+ * d/p/lp-2060941.patch: Cherry-pick fix for CoPP system test.
+ * d/p/lp-2065269.patch: Cherry-pick fix for ACL after lb tests.
Why are these bugs not part of the SRU? They are not being referred in
the d/changelog,
I've forwarded the patch to upstream. Please see the new debdiff with
the updated patch header.

Attempted a no-change rebuild without the patch. Predictably, it built,
but segfaulted upon run due to the Python 3.12 incompatibility.
