I tried Banshee and found it could not connect to the synology music
server at all. As probable cause an incompatibility with iTunes was
given. So the Rhythmbox problem might be the same. I will try mt-daap on
a ubuntu installation in virtualbox and see what happens.

Tried forked-daapd on an ubuntu installation in virtualbox. Rhythmbox
works like a charm. And now I see that it also works with my synology
iTunes server. Mystery. Probably some cache somewhere. Sorry to have
bothered you.

I had the same problem, but my firefly runs on Linux (ubuntu). I did not
succeed in getting a new rhythmbox version.
Upgrading the server to ubuntu 10.04 and then reinstalling mt-daap solved
the problem. Perhaps you could run mt-daap in ubuntu in VirtualBox on Vista

in may, ran into the problem of Rhythmbox crashing the mt-daapd server on
8.04.3
agree. the fix to Rhythmbox seems not to have been released. But something
did change, cause my mt-daapd does not crash anymore. So what was it? Ubuntu
server, from 8.04 to 10.04? mt-daapd on Ubuntu 10.04 versus 8.04? Or... ..
rhythmbox after all?? I honestly dont know...

Jonathan Matthew has been so kind as to remove the extra Connection header from
Rhythmbox that seems to cause mt-daapd to crash. Perfect. I presume the new
Rhythmbox version will show up downstream in Ubuntu Lucid.

I tried Amarok on Ubuntu Lucid. Works like a charm en does not kill the
mt-daapd server. Take care to install extra package (sudo apt-get
install libxine1-ffmpeg workied in my case) to allow for mp3 playback.

Rhythmbox on Karmic and on Lucid, both with the daap plugin installed. With

I applied the procedure, starting with step, 5 outlined by David Oser in #140
and #141 to install the mainline rc6 kernel. The system boots without problems
and the video link mentioned in #132 plays without any problems.

@Alban I am sorry to hear you are disappointed. All I can say is that I
know there are a lot of people working hard to fix bugs and solve problems
and that a 6-month release cycle is putting a heavy burden and a lot of
strain on the developers.
What I do with new versions of any sofware I have
rhythmbox on lucid (mainline rc6 kernel). when i try to play a song from
my mt-daap server running on my lan on an ubuntu hardy server, the daap
service (running on port 3689) dies. The daap server does show up in
rhythmbox initially.

Just download the packages for your architecture (386 or amd64) + the
sources + the all.deb . Put them in a directory. Open a terminal, go to
the directory and type sudo dpkg -i *.deb
.

I have the same problem since July 9. Random system restart. I use a Dell
Inspiron 1525 laptop. The problem seems to have started after I installed
Ubuntuone-cient -gnome and de-installed it again because it caused a crash of
nautilus. Also it seems to be related to the totem-movie-player,
I had similar problems, but they nseem to have gone in version 9.04

What I did is put the exectuable file in the /etc/ppp/if-up.d/ directory,
removed the Broadband card, rebooted the laptop, stuck the Broadband card back
in the laptop, connected to the mobile network and started Firefox.

0.0.0.0, GW 10.49.0.1, Metric 0) but to no avail. After pressing OK and

By comparing my Intrepid laptop with 3g broadband card, with my Jaunty test
laptop (with the same 3g broadband card) I discovered that the Jaunty laptop
does not have a default gateway set after the ppp-connection is made. Does
anyone know were I can set a default gateway??

re my previous remark.. I just found out that on my Jaunty test machine
with the broadband mobile card, after the connection is made there is no
default gateway. The correct default gw is set on my Intrepid machine.
That is probably why my Jaunty machine cannot find any anything. I do
not know if

I put an executable file called 0defaultgw in directory /etc/ppp/if-up.d/
All it does is add a default route with the command
route add default gw 10.49.0.1 ppp0
Not very sophisticated, I know. But it did the trick.
If anyone knows a better way, please let me know.

I installed 9.04 today on my test system and got the same results.
Disconnecting the broadband mobile card (or removing it) stopped
NetworkManager. And apart from that, Firefox did not seem to recognize the
broadband connection at all, as it could not connect to any website. Like

When I am connected to my Wireless LAN and to the KPN Mobile network at the
