mohrol, you are saying you installed cdda2wav first and then installed
icedax? and then it just works? the icedax package conflicts with
cdda2wav so installing icedax will force cdda2wav to be removed again...
at least on my system. or am i misunderstanding you here?

Yep, that cleared the error from the log files :)
Cannot say if it fixes boot hangs since I have not seen those since
ages... Not sure what else it changes except that Google Earth won't
start at all now but that program was useless

Trying the copy a CD with Brasero in Ubuntu 10.04, it fails due to the
fact that cdrdao in the repository is too old (as Brasero reports on
it's Plugins dialog) ...

just upgraded to lucid and it is still the same ... but i notice it is
just THIS archive! other archives with .sql files report the size just
fine. and when unpacking this particular .sql file and repacking it
results in a new archive that reports the size fine too.

Ok, so this is why my ZyXEL ZyAIR G-100 wireless pcmcia networking card,
fully supported under Ubuntu 9.10, fails with the following in Ubuntu
10.04 beta1 :

Some observations on the matter:
I have noticed some irregularities with auto-connect. After a fresh
boot, most of the times it does not work but sometimes it does. However,
after logout and login, U1 auto-connect works just fine.
I tried auto-starting U1 with a delay by editing the auto-start
same on 64bit

After a fresh boot login, U1 does not autoconnect (yes, that is a me
too ;) ). However, when I subsequently log out and back in again, U1
connects automatically without any probs!

Unable to automatically connect. Exclamation mark in cloud icon. Successfully
connects
Same here on 9.10 with Acecad clone. Mouse pointer moves but no click
events from tip nor buttons... Out of the box it appears to use the
evdev driver.
:~$ xinput --list

Type is TOUCHPAD
Num_buttons is 5
Num_axes is 3
Same on 64bit... either with Automatic or with Remember last
selected at Connect on start-up, client will not auto-connect. Manual

The easy solution for *this* dummy with an RT2500 based card, was to
remove Network-Manager and install Wicd. See
http://wicd.sourceforge.net. You can ad the repository or just download
the latest deb file...

Have the same issue on Feisty AMD64 (kernel .15) with ATI Radeon Xpress
200M on Packard Bell EasyNote R3450 motherboard, and using the latest
ATI drivers (8.36.5).
Tried about every option changed in /etc/default/acpi-support (inluding
ACPI_SLEEP_MODE=mem standby and HIBERNATE_MODE=shutdown
Sadly, /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf AlwaysRestartServer=true doesn't fix it
on my machine (feisty 64bit/radeon xpress 200m)...

Ok, here's an update: I reported earlier that this behaviour had somehow
vanished from my system...
Well, it's back again! Trying to fix an issue with hibernation, I found
out that my install was not using swap at all. After restoring system
swapping again, the issue with system lock-up/black
I can confirm the black screen (not the freezing system) upon log-out
and switch user behaviour - a few days ago... but strangely, that
behaviour vanished again after a lot of messing around with my fglrx
settings and attempt to get my ati radeon xpress 200m to run with
desktop effects or compiz
