This is also affecting to me. It may be something similar to this other
bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=264200 , so apparently it seems
a bug related to downstream packaging.

There was an update today that properly disconnects the vpn connection
and avoids the hang both in plasma-widget-networkmanagement and in the
kde session. However there is still a small issue with the applet not
updating the disconnected status of the vpn connection.

I just realized that when trying to disconnect the vpn there is a kded4
process that takes 100% cpu, so the issue is still more important than I
thought

This is happening in kubuntu natty. When I connect vpnc within the
applet (0.9~svngit20110408-0ubuntu1), everything works fine but the
problem happens when I try to disconnect. This may be also a bug in
I completely agree with the last comment. I had to abandon the nouveau
driver in favor of nvidia just because of this usual hangs, even if
nouveau was working even better than nvidia otherwise. It's a shame and
should be attended as far as possible IMHO

Hello,
Jonathan, I tested the bzr branch today. Downloaded the branch, checked
that apportevent had commit 227 in apportevent.cpp and build the package
with dpkg-buildpackage, installed the resulting kubuntu-notification-
helper_11.04ubuntu3_i386.deb. Exited kde, cleaned the zombies I had
around
Please, forget my previous comment (wish I could delete it :( ) I did a
mistake during the build and my installation was not correct and still
running the old daemon.
I'll check better before commenting again ;)

Bugs,
Ok, I did it right this time. I confirmed that the compilation was right
and that the version installed was the new one (tagged 11.04ubuntu3).
The results are the same, closing the lid and opening it again creates
kded4 zombies. This happens only if k-n-h is running.
As said before, there are

I can confirm a similar situation here when using Networkmanager and
modemmanager as suplplied by ubuntu maverick repos. Last version that
worked for me was modemmanager 0.3.0 in lucid. My data is:
