I have the same problem as #33 (julo), where my laptop automatically
goes back to suspend after waking up. I can reproduce this as follows:
I start up my laptop, suspend it the first time, wake it up again and I
can work on it just fine (except for this bug causing me to have no
internet
I can confirm that the command 'sudo nmcli nm sleep false' works as a
temporary fix (it only works when running it using sudo).

have a laptop with the English and Dutch languages installed and the
default available spell checking languages in Firefox are 6 versions of

laptop has broken down (the onboard video chip died). I can't start

This bug affects my Lenovo E530 laptop as well. When pressing the
backlight up/down fn keys the backlight is set to the minimum and can't
be changed. The partial fix from comment #2 works (also with a
malfunctioning indicator, which only jumps between 2 positions).

most applications (cheese, vlc, qv4l2, skype), but is fixed in xawtv.

I have the same problem. Too many types of English and Dutch show up in
Thunderbirds spelling checker. Renaming(/backupping) the obsolete .aff
and .dic files in /usr/share/hunspell fixed the problem for me.

I have the same problem, a loud sound on a regular interval, though I'd
call it more like a whistling sound. The only workaround for me is to
use mplayer or VLC and set their output directly to ALSA HDMI, instead
of pulse. Bypassing pulse seems to fix the problem, but I can't do it
for Chrome so I

The trick was to add acpi_osi= (without the quotation marks) to the
GRUB parameters. Setting the parameter to an empty string means that no
OS is reported to the BIOS. By default acpi_osi is set to Windows NT. I

I can confirm that acpi=ht makes the brightness keys work for me, but
now power management is disabled. I can't even see the battery meter.
It's not a very good workaround.

Adding acpi_backlight=vendor to the kernel boot parameters didn't work.
The brightness meter stopped showing, but the function keys still don't

I have the same issue, and I've noticed that I lacked the Display
Controller (is this why I can't change the brightness?) that David
Boersma has in his lspci, mine reads:
