Hi there.
I just installed the above conexant.deb workaround on a 2.6.33-realtime
kernel manually upgraded to Alsa 1.0.23 ( with latest driver snapshot
from Takashi Iwai) on a T60P.
The Unkown symbol issue still exists. thinkpad-acpi just dies.
Anything I can do?

Dear Daniel.
I am a rather normal user.
I don't have any background of any discussions on your level. I am sorry
that you don't have any time to look into that problem.
What you propose and describe is a Linux hacker approach. This is not a

I am running Ubuntu 8.10 - and latest ALSA (1.1.18a).

I checked with ALSA design this must be an Ubuntu/Debian specific issue.

Hi.
Alsa design refered me to below patch. This patch explains it. Debian is

Hi this is ridiculous.
I almost smoked my PC. My CPU had some fun without ACPI on in the final

I am happy that nothing died.
This is a real CRITICAL TOPIC folks at UBUNTU!!!
The standard UBUNTU kernel works, so what's the issue?
Anyhow, I switched to ZEN-kernel weeks
Yes - seems similar. Though I don't experience this behavior on the generic

It works. I installed the package on the 2.6.27-7-general kernel.
While booting up the rt-kernel fglrx autoinstall ran without any

From my perspective this TT can be closed now. (Hmmh - better leave it
open. Until we get the final update via the repositories)

I just added the line /etc/init.d/pulseaudio start to /usr/bin/pulse-session
and removed the other start line.
This works as expected.

I finally tracked it down to the bottom.
Every X11 startup starts pulseaudio: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio

OK. Not much response yet.
BUT: I figured it out by myself.
dbus-conf starts a script /usr/bin/pulse-session
This starts directly the pulseaudio daemon, thus passing by
/etc/default/pulseaudio and /etc/init.d
Changing pulse-session with below lines might help: (or you just start

Hi there.
I uninstalled the 2.6.27-7-generic, after I put 2.6.27-3-rt on. Now I
reinstalled it again. The fglrx driver still works on this kernel.
It really could be a problem with two fglrx's on the system.
I need a specifically compiled driver per kernel, right?
