The same (or similar) bug appeared for me on ubuntu 12.04. The system
suspends/resumes if I use the nvidia proprietrary driver but resumes
with black screen with nouveau. Howvever for me the supending from text
mode does not work either.

This solved for me, finally. Thx. Btw I had to restart cups between steps 3
and 4.

I faced the same bug (when headphones are plugged in, laptop speakers are

I can confirm this error. Writer appeared windowed, calc covered the
whole screen. Also Save your changes dialog is full screen for me.
I switched back to kwin (ALT+F2, kwin --replace) then openeded
openoffice calc. It was full screen. I unmaximized it, then turned on
the compiz again (ALT+F2,
Switching off legacy full screen support in ccsm solved this problem.
