I reverted to Ubuntu 11.04 and had to install lame seperately to solve
this is. Maybe there was something wrong in the install proces. I
reverted on 3 laptop en 2 got out fine while 1 did not get lame
installed. Is there anyway of this at the end of an install? Because my
hardware is ancient I
I solved with a clean install op Ubuntu 9.10 which had a good wife
support.

I' ve got around this bug in the end. Some time ago I removed two of the
user accounts from the laptop. All I had to do is add the previous
existing users and deinstalled wicd, upgrade ubuntu to 10.4 and install
wicd again. The configuration of my existing WIFI connection was still

How can I upgrade my Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 on my IBM Thinkpad T43 while

I tried to do it with normal Update manager but then the upgrade aborts.

I had the same problem with upgrading my Ubuntu studio 9.04 box from
command prompt to Karmic Koala. I did use the server edition installer.
Got around it opening up a second terminal session by shutting down
apache and ebox en starting them up again. After that the upgrade
continued:
