Just an update. I think I found what caused this error. When I added my
Twitter account, I spelled it in all small letters (jeanaustinr),
however, my real username is actually JeanAustinR. After changing it to
the correct one, the position of the avatar was corrected.

I still see my Twitter avatar on the wrong side of the stream. I have
two accounts running on Gwibber: identi.ca and Twitter. I recently
changed my username from zszoet to jeanaustin (in identi.ca) and
jeanaustinr (in Twitter). After logging in to Gwibber, that's what I
get.
