Public bug reported: When a program has unsaved changes and one logs out of Ubuntu (with unity 2d) the Unity dock / menu is gone after cancelling logout.
Way to reproduce in Unity (2d in my case): - Open Gedit and type some text - Do NOT save - Go to system icon and press 'Shut down...' - System will tell you : ------ ' a programm is still running:' Gedit This program is blocking logout Waiting for the program to finish. Interupting the program may cause you to lose work. [Lock Screen] [Cancel] [Restart Anyway] ---- - The unity menu has already disappeared at this point - Click 'Cancel' - The Unity dock / menu won't come back The sollution would be if the Unity menu would only hide after logout has been confirmed OR reshow unity after cancelling ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: unity-2d-shell 5.12.0-0ubuntu1.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-10.10-generic 3.5.1 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-10-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu12 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Aug 15 18:28:53 2012 EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/unity-2d-shell InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120425) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: unity-2d UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) XsessionErrors: gnome-session[2050]: WARNING: Session 'ubuntu' runnable check failed: Exited with code 5 ** Affects: unity-2d (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise running-unity third-party-packages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1037198 Title: Unity dock / menu gone after cancelling logout due to running programs with unsaved changes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-2d/+bug/1037198/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
