Title:
KNetworkManager Should Support Key Type Selection under WPA
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Kubuntu better. The KDE3 version of KNetworkManager has been
discontinued by its original authors. This unfortunately means that
there will be no more bugfix releases, and updates in general will be
limited to those fixing
I can confirm that the option to select the encryption type is missing (again)
in Kubuntu Jaunty.
Many users of eduroam (http://www.eduroam.org/) need this or they will have to
use wpa_supplicant/dhclient on cli.

KNetworkManager Should Support Key Type Selection under WPA Enterprise
This bug Persists in 9.04 (Jaunty). There is no option to set the
encryption type in the KDE network manager. This makes it impossible for
me to log into the network at my school.

Hmm. deja vu...
The option to select TKIP was in Gutsy :)
The option to select TKIP was missing when Hardy was released. :(
The option to select TKIP was put back into Hardy. :)
The option to select TKIP was missing when Intrepid was released. :(
Is this just co-incidence or a pattern?

Ah right. Is there a box that allows you to select TKIP/CCMP etc at the
moment?

There still isn't an option for Dynamic WEP as Legolas mentioned. Hmm,
I'll look at the knetworkmanager source at some point and see if they're
added it. I think the kubuntu devs just merged the most recent changes
from CVS, and they must not have included Dynamic WEP.

Hello,
This seems to be fixed in Hardy. I suggest closing the bug once a couple
of people confirm.

Hello again,
Seeing there was no response to my above post, I thought I'd try
compiling knetworkmanager from svn. Unfortunately, I haven't had much
success. The changelog reveals that the above patches were in fact
merged into the codebase quite some time back (around october last
year). I'm
Hello,
I've got the same issue trying to connect to my university network. I
was wondering if the patches mentioned in the above post could make it
into hardy. I'm running Hardy Alpha 5 at the moment, and am yet to see
them.
Cheers

This bug should be fixed upstream... I haven't been able to test it
myself (Gutsy has libnl-1.0-pre5, but I think knetworkmanager needs
1.0-pre6), but revisions 711598
(http://websvn.kde.org/?view=revrevision=711598) and 711600
(http://websvn.kde.org/?view=revrevision=711600) look very promising.
I would also like to see the Dynamic WEP option when trying to connect
to a wireless network with WPA Enterprise.
