EXACTLY the same problem here, still the ALC883 but on the ICH8. My laptop is a Rock Pegasus 710, so there aren't any specific fixes for this model. I really wish I could get a fix for this... oh well, looks like I'll have to dual-boot to Vista until it's patched :-/ Anybody have any updates on

yep well I'll try that. Actually Im not sure if this could be called a bug more than a lack of hardware support, you know? Seems like its just that our laptops use a particular hardware configuration that alsa's can't quite figure out just yet. Im just surprise not more people reported on that.

i was hoping with the latest Gutsy upgrade this may have been solved, but it is still an issue I also have an L.G p1 express with realtek ALC883 all other issues with this laptop have been fixed with the latest gutsy release, if only we can sort out this sound issue then it will be 100% gutsy
