The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.

I have the same problem, and it's apparently an issue with Ubuntu's
interaction with the hard drive. It's not the hard drive itself, and my
Debian system on the same computer runs smoothly, so it must be a
kernel/driver issue.

currently I'm booting from Linux Rhino 2.6.20-14-generic #2 SMP Mon Apr 2
20:37:49 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
but the kernel that gives me problems is the 2.6.20-15.27 version as mention
before, with all ubuntu updates.
