I'm using 3.5.6, the version shipped with Feisty, and I don't think the
answer to this problem should be 'move to a third party version of KDE'-
what's Kubuntu for?

3.5.7 is not a third party version, it is the updated Kubuntu Feisty
version that Jonathan Riddell puts up so people can get the latest
version of KDE. I didn't provide it to you as an answer either, I just
What version of KDE are you using? I am using KDE 3.5.7 and all of my
old dates seem to be correct now. I do remember them being off with
3.5.6 though right after the time change. If you aren't using 3.5.7, I
recommend you view http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde-357.php and
update to 3.5.7 in
