The suspend bug seems to be fixed in Gutsy since network-manager
(0.6.5-0ubuntu7) and the source package could be compiled fine in Feisty
too.

I can confirm that current packages are in Gutsy and they work fine.
They work fine under Feisty too if they compiled against it and they

Ok, I must correct me. Network-Manager works but the suspend bug is still in
the 0.6.5. After suspend the wired and wlan connection is activated even if no
LAN cable is inserted. With this situation Network Manager is unable to connect
until de- and activating networking.

I think that more important than a backport of nm 0.6.5 for Feisty is a
release of it for Gutsy. It would be weird if a extra repository is
still needed to get and old nm in Gutsy.

I'm just using an unofficial package of nm-0.7-svn on my
feisty and I can say it's working very well even if it's not
the latest version from svn so, why not have the latest
networkmanager officially available for Feisty?
Moreover, it manages dial-up connection very well...

I think it could be incompatible with actual dependencies but in the other hand
those applications depends of libnm-glib0 (without version). I think this
library is API stable from 0.6.4 to 0.6.5 and it could be safe to update
NetworkManager.

I concur as well. This version finally puts LEAP support in an official
release, which I need here for school, and as the nm-applet has been
split off into a separate tarball and several feisty packages now depend
on libnm0 (gaim, evolution) I am having a hard time just popping in a
debian

I'm currently working at a school with some laptops here, and am pushing to get
them over to edubuntu.
The wireless network uses among other things MSCHAPv2, and using
wpa_supplicant.conf and such is too much for anyone but me to both comprehend
and manage.
It's the same for me. The lack of support for EAP phase2 in
NetworkManager prevents me from using it on a daily basis. I use
wpa_supplicant with PAP phase2 auth to connect to my university's
wireless network.
Phase2 support was added to 0.6.5 version of NetworkManager, therefore

to 0.6.5. When the wireless network is not working, people see this as a
bug. So essentially it would be a bug fix.
