The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.

I've upgraded to Hardy and have not had this problem since. For what
it's worth, I'm still really disappointed that it got totally dropped
and neglected while I had to deal with it day after day. I don't know
what I should have done to get this bug more press, but it was a very

Hi there, guys.
A year later and Ubuntu is still doing it -- if I were any less of a
free software fanatic, I'd have switched back to Windows by now, because
it's a really annoying bug. Any progress made on a patch? Should I be
bugging somebody else to fix this?

Interesting thing I noticed today -- if I open Sound Juicer, it reports
that the bogus CD has 104 tracks. I don't know if that will stay
constant every time I boot, or whether that number could mean anything,
but I thought I'd share it.

New development: having just rebooted my computer, the bogus CD is not
shown; however, every 10 seconds or so, I get an error popup with no
title, header text Cannot eject volume, and explainer text Cannot
eject the volume. This has never happened before.
