Public bug reported: Lenovo is shipping laptops with USB ethernet dongles with the common asix chipset handled by the asix.ko kernel module, but the all new USB ids (*sigh*) are missing from at least 12.04 LTS kernels. It would be very convenient if you could add this id to the stock 12.04 LTS kernel, adding support for a common dongle with minimal work. (I have also verified that the dongle seems to work if it just identifies the ID.)
The USB id to be added for handling by the asix.ko driver is as follows: Bus 001 Device 014: ID 17ef:7203 Lenovo See also the same issue on OpenSUSE forum: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/hardware/479678-lenovo-carbon-x1-usb-ethernet-dongle-not-working-ax88772b.html Thanks. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1102510 Title: Lacking USB ids for asix ethernet dongles shipped by Lenovo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1102510/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
