Thanks. So let me get this straight... if Google suggests 2 possible
ports... and one of them crashes LibreOffice, then this is not a bug in
LibreOffice, but we should just use the other port.
Hum... I like the logic of this. (this is sarcasm)

if port 465 doesn't work, then one would use 587 as an alternative.

Here is the step by step :
- Launch Writer.
- Tools-Options-LibreOffice Writer-Mail Merge E-mail
- Fill in the details (I use Gmail's smtp.gmail.com, with SSL enabled
and port 465).
- Select Server Authentication, check Server requires authentication.
- Enter Username (@gmail.com

hook available, ignoring.
I am running the absolutely FRESH AND DEFAULT Ubuntu 12.04.02 and
believe me, when I launch LibreOffice Writer, it launches... so no idea
why this message appears.
