This and bug #1236249 likely have the same root cause. mhr3 got a nice
backtrace for 1236249 that lars is going to investigate on Wednesday. If
there's a quick fix there, then let's see what effect that fix has on
this ticket's crash.
OTOH, I don't think we should mark this as a duplicate just
