The hard locks and freezes have stopped for me in Gutsy since installing
the 169.07 driver using Envy. No lock-ups or freezes in Hardy either
using the 169.09 driver.

After installing:
Athlon 64 X2 6000
1Gb RAM
Asus M2N-E SLI
Nvidia 7300GT
Seagate SATA HD
I've had chronic lockups. System is stable for 5s-5mins before locking
up hard, unable to restart X. Same behaviour in Feisty/Gutsy x86 and
amd64.
On the same system
This has happened to me twice with an eVGA (NVIDIA) GeForce 8800 GTS
640MB. Twice in two days. I just started using compiz-fusion. I've tried
upgrading to the latest version of compiz fusion, but it froze with that
too.

Same here. Random temporary freezes and just 1 hard lock yesturday.
Seems to be a pretty common theme now. Im on an AMD turion x2, nvidia
6150 integrated card. Only happens with compiz on. Strangely, my system
just froze for 3 seconds while typing this so I grabbed the

I experienced many Hard Locks on my Samsung X20 Notebook (ATI X600 Mobility).
If the radeon driver is used together with compiz-effects (Live-CD
configuration), the system freezes completely after some minutes.

I get these Locks too. nvidia-glx-new driver wth 7400go card on my
Samsung X11 Notebook.
Alt + SysRq + R, then switching to console and restarting Xorg sometimes
avoids a hard reset. (but not always)
