I had this problem too. A new bunch of updates came today (after the updates
that caused this) but it wasn't fixed.
The URL mentioned above does the trick:
gconftool --type float --set

I've got this bug too since updating the system to be up-to-date gutsy
from the state of yesterday. When trying to resize the window of gnome-
terminal it reportes the same resolution as xwininfo reports, so

Same problem here with Ubuntu 7.10 64bit and GNOME Terminal 2.18.1.
Which graphical Terminal can I use instead of GNOME terminal? I have
tried to set X-Term to default, but it doesn't work too.

Press Alt+F2, type xterm and then click on Run.

is this related to gconf-editor, it was one of the things i have updated
this morning before i had this error.

I tested it on more than one Computer.
It happened only on Edubuntu-desktop installation after the Update today
Di Sep 18 2007.

I can corroborate with this one... My font size is unreadable, and the
cursor is about 2 pixels high... furthermore the zoom in (CTRL + +)
doesn't work, and the font settings are ignored.
