For me, Flash Player sometimes displays a grey box on YouTube, but the
sound is still playing. And often after about 4 seconds of the video, it
restarts it and then just works fine. Weird.

Back to +2 after my -1 for flash 64 in the repos. We would be better off
to have no flash than force an Alpha on AMD64 users. The need for any
plug-in unnecessary soon. Adobe is talking with Google about complete
integration into Chrome. So this bug discussion could be renedered moot
in the near
I think they should both be in there, so people can choose for
themselves what sort of problems they want to experience. I've never
seen any video websites that don't work with the 64-bit plugin, and no
matter what package is in the repositories, you're not being forced to
run anything.

Alas, since I live outside the US, Hulu works perfectly well at
telling me that I can't watch it, so I couldn't confirm that. Maybe I

terminals, Pidgin Firefox with many tabs. Plenty of RAM, 4 gigs. No

This bug applies to nspluginwrapper under Google Chrome too.
I also second using the 64-bit alpha over the 32-bit wrapped version!
More stable, better performance etc.
At least make it available in the repo's as an option! Like with the wine beta
that co-existed with the production one.

That's not a fix. That is called a workaround.
The fact is, there are still multiple bug in this 32-in-64 wrapper
thing. Because of the severe problems people were having with this,
choking up their linux workstations, I banned it from the network
altogether. I needed it for acroreader and flash.
This bug is fixed for me, too, with the new 64bit beta 3 flashplugin
from adobe.com (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html).

This flash npviewer issue has been bugging me for ages (even moreso
since Karmic). It seems the latest 64bit Flash PPA resolves my issues
(for a few days now), avoiding the wrapper completely, and providing
stability on repeated YouTubing (where I easily tripped on this). I

I agree with vnieto. Simon's route is fine too. I installed the native
amd64 flashplugin and had minor hiccups. Removing nspluginwrapper fixed
any residual issues for me.

I can confirm that running the native (alpha version) of the Adobe Flash
plugin on an amd64 system makes this error go away. So by removing the
flashplugin-nonfree package and installing the Adobe 64bit alpha version

I'm not sure this is the same bug but I have a crash on Jaunty alpha 4
amd64 (ext4) when tried to open the downloaded with firefox pdf document
in Okular.

The latest release of flash doesnt support 64-bit, and the ubuntu repos will
reflect this.
If you remove the flash plugin and nsplugin wrapper through synaptic and
install the alpha version of 64 bit flash from adobe labs:

Just imagine how the anti-fanboys would go nuts though if Ubuntu shipped an
alpha of Flash - when they raised a hell of a storm after it shipped a beta

Dan that is not my experience on 64 bit 10.0.15.3, The 64bit revision
will still segfault. With the 64bit flash install, jaunty still gives

This crash is caused by flash.
If you install the 64-bit version of flash (very new and still in alpha
testing) this crash goes away.
You also need to remove nsplugginwrapper and the previous version of flash
otherwise it still loads and crashes even though you are using the 64-bit
version of

a workaround for the cpu usage, in my case I'm running Intrepid amd64, and FF,
and npviewer was consuming 75% of CPU, after aplying the following:
$ sudo nspluginwrapper -v -a -u
The usage decreased to 4 %,
