This appears to be fixed in Jaunty. The display is refreshed properly
coming out of sleep.

Sorry Lim, that is how it works. DRAM requires active refresh to
maintain its contents. This is done for system memory in sleep state,
but does not appear to happen for the video memory. Without active
refresh, DRAM will degrade over a minute or so.

RAM state will generally degrade over time, -- um. No it's
not how it works. It must a driver/X error, not ram expiring.
I am having same problem, but on all GFX cards, I am reporting it as a separate
bug (compilation).

glitches were gone with 8.10 is because the basic
problem here is that video memory is not being refreshed during sleep. RAM

Update: I installed Hardy RC, and this problem still occurs. I had to
hack the compiz startup script due to some lame blacklist bug to get it
to even run, too.
