Running 8.10 amd64. This crash has been with me since I installed 8.10,
completely reproducible. I just installed KDE 4.2 from
http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-experimental/ubuntu. Crash happens
just as before. Clearly a QT problem; it affects Konqueror and Krusader
(my usual file manager).
This is ~not~ fixed in ibex. I am using Intrepid now, and when i try to
drop files in dolphin, i get this crash.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed
in the latest development version of Ubuntu - the Intrepid Ibex. It
won't be fixed in previous versions of Ubuntu because the package
doesn't fit the
In KDE4, dolphin's tooltips disappear as soon as dnd is complete. I
couldn't make it crash like under KDE3 no matter how hard I try. I would
say it is not a problem any more.

I get the same when dropping files into K3B projects and then move the
mouse pointer over the tooltip before alt-tabbing Dolphin back into
focus.

this happens to me a lot. Kaffeine isn't the problem. All drag and drop
actions that involve another window grabbing focus with tooltip shown
will crash if your mouse moves back to the tooltip (given that the
window overlaps dolphin, as mentioned by the OP).
