xfce4 mouse cursor themes not used in all
I tried to reproduce this bug in Xubuntu 18.04 with redglass set to size
48, but the cursor shape or size was never altered by any application.
Can anyone else confirm that this bug is not present in the latest
release?

Solved this problem as follows. Now have a non-default theme in place
(redglass) with a larger cursor (48, not default 18).
Thanks to all above for ideas.
The solution below was tested on Ubuntu Studio 16.04 with XFCE 4.12.2
and all package updates installed.

xfce4 mouse cursor themes not used in all
I've gotten themes to work but setting a custom cursor size does not
work, the cursor is the correct size inside of most programs but reverts
whenever I move over top panel, desktop or login screen. Tried to change
cursor size using various methods, as suggested, but no luck. Why is
this bug
for the record, i'm using Xubuntu 14.04.3 lts 64-bit

Year is 2015. It has been 8 years and this problem is still occurring.
None of the suggestions mentioned in this thread and the common
workarounds discussed in other forum threads work for me. Please fix

Open Thunar as root. Go to File System usrshareiconsdefault. Right
click on index.theme then open with Mousepad. Modify Inherits=DMZ-White
to Inherits=DMZ-Black.

I downgraded my nvedia drivers because of another bug and ... many of
the buttons in applications would not work but by resizing the
window(thus putting the buttons in another area of the screen) they were
clickable. And the cursor changed to default in parts of Firefox which
prevented
I don't think a problem with nvidia cards and drivers not yet available
in 2007 when this was first reported are the cause. Further, I have
Nvidia, ATI, and Intel video on my three separate computers that all see
this issue.

Could be the firefox 4.0b8 itself, but when I attempted this, the cursor
changed in firefox main body, bookmarks and menus only. The cursor did
not change on the desktop, panels, or other applications. I don't think
this can be considered fixed, myself.

Doesn't work too on Lucid Lynx without GDM (but work with).
Rvgsd workaround make input impossible and the terminal doesn't start. But the
cursor is the right one.

Workaround for this problem:
(Works on Xubuntu 8.04.3 LTS, not sure about other versions.).
Put the theme in
/usr/share/icons/
/usr/share/icons/MyTheme
Modify the 'index.theme' in the '/use/share/icons/default' file to look like
this:

After a complete shutdown / startup, the cursor remains the same in all
applications. If it is changed with out a complete system restart, it
fails to change in all applications as originally reported.

We can't test this at the moment. There is no way to change the cursor
in the default Xubuntu Jaunty 9.04 as of 2009-02-06 daily image. Mouse
Preferences does not exist in Settings.

I cannot change cursor themes in Xubuntu 8.04.1 Hardy Heron... It also
happened in previous versions.
It displays the correct choice on some apps, but in other like the

Thank you for your bug report. I can confirm this. The new theme is used
in a very few apps, for me it isn't used on the desktop, nor in xfce's
menu, nor in the preferences of xfce. It's used in some gtk apps such as
kazehakase.
