I've been dealing with this issue for two years now, happens about 30% of the
time when I put it on the dock, after a restart it works fine. Since I don't
have the time or knowledge to help identify this issue, at least I wanted to
share the workaround I recently found:

I am using Lenovo Yoga 260 with OneLink+ Dock and just started to have the same
problem with Ubuntu freezing. I am using 18.04.1. Symptoms:
(1) If I have it connected when I power up, it will hang and you can only hold
down the power down button.
(2) If I connect the Dock link after I power up

I think I'm also affected by this issue (Thinkpad T450s). When changing
the power management behavior for a closed lid (AC and Battery) to not

a work around.

Hi,
Sorry for losing track of this. My current situation is that on the
latest xenial kernel (4.4.0-31-generic) I can happily dock and undock
without the laptop freezing.
... instead, after undocking the laptop freezes when trying to suspend.
I'll do some investigation, and if I can't figure
We may want to start over, since the original issue is now fixed and we
have a new issue with undocking.
Can you test the 4.7-rc4 kernel to see if the un-docking issue also
exists in mainline? It can be downloaded from:

Hi Joseph,
Sorry, but I haven't gotten around to trying the last kernel you posted.
In the meantime, Xenial had a new kernel released: 4.4.0-25-generic. In
this latest kernel, I can now dock without everything freezing - yay!
However, I now can't undock without everything freezing - booo!
Can you try a newer Xenial kernel, to see if thise crypt issue is just in older
kernels.
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/4.4.0-10.25
If 4.4.0-10 can boot without the crypt bug, see if it has the docking
bug.
Thanks

Are you able to boot either of those kernels if you bypass the GUI?
This can be done by removing "quiet splash" from the /etc/default/grub
file, then running sudo update-grub.
You'll still get prompted for the decryption password, but it will be a
non-graphical prompt.

Since this bug does not exist with any of the upstream kernels, it may
be due to a SAUCE patch. Can you test the following Ubuntu kernels:

I can confirm that this still happens in the kernel from -proposed,
although it's possible it's less frequent (not sure about that, I may be
mistaken). I've added the appropriate tag back to the bug.

Ugh - sorry about this, but I realise I've messed up. I assumed that
when you install a new kernel package it becomes the default kernel that
grub boots. I now know that's not the case.
I've gone back and re-tested all the mainline kernels: 4.2.0, 4.3.0,

It sounds like the bug exists in the 4.2 final kernel, but it does not

I'd like to perform a bisect to figure out what commit caused this
regression. We need to identify the earliest kernel where the issue
started happening as well as the latest kernel that did not have this
issue.
Can you test the following kernels and report back? We are looking for
