It might be helpful to get some plymouth debug log files, you can have plymouth run in debug mode by adding 'plymouth.debug' to /etc/default/grub and then running sudo update-grub. Here's what the correct line in /etc/default/grub might look like. GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash
