I have also been suffering from this issue since the first hardy alpha... I have an AMD dual core 64bit machine with nvidia graphics card, two sata drives and the nvidia sata controller on my gigabyte motherboard. I'm going to try the all_generic_ide option to see if that does anything. Never had
