zenzike's instructions worked for me (8.10) also - much better reception and no dropouts (yet). If possible, this should be put into the main ubuntu line. Zenzike: the PCI ID of mine doesn't match yours but it worked anyway. It should work for all USB or internal wireless using the rtl8187
