I could reproduce this in 8.10. Open menu Places / Computer Right click on your cd/dvd player, choose Eject (make sure you didn't have any cd, and that it's not mounted). An error dialog should popup. Try alt-tab to another application. Now try to alt-tab back to the error dialog. You can't.

OK, here is is reproduced on an installed 8.04 i386 system: - boot and login - select menu Places / Computer - select menu Applications / Accessories / Terminal - in the file browser windows right click first icon, labeled CD-RW/DVD+RW Drive and in the popu menu select Eject An error dialog
