The original machine I have tested with is now out of my reach, back to
the original owner, I cannot confirm if the problem vanished or not. But
if there are other watchers that think this is closed, it can be
considered closed from my side as well.

I have a similar problem on my Hardy install.
Neither kpowersave nor guidance-power-manager report correct battery
information. However, using the acpi command reports the correct state.
Restarting kpowersave of guidance-power-manager doesn't change the situation. I
get the following messages
