I'm sorry to inform that this problem still exists in Edgy. The bug
should be reopened. ( By some strange reason I'm not being able to find
a button/link to reopen it using launchpad interface ).

Great, thanks. I think that's a rather different bug, so it should be
safe to close this one now.
You may have trouble typing non-ASCII characters on different virtual
consoles at the moment; I have an upload pending to fix that.

Tested in Edgy, almost all characters works now in exception of รง
(only with us_intl keyboards), opened a new bug report for the console-
setup package which is used now in turn of console-data (Bug 66978).

Again.
This bug remains in Dapper Drake and for servers without graphical interface is
impossible to use pt_BR.UTF-8 and be able to type accentuated characters at the
console. Changing the LANG variable to pt_BR using the ISO-8859-1 charset works.
