After updating packages in a 22.04 ubuntu-mate VM on 24/3/22 I hit this bug. Additionally of note the Brisk Menu icon in the session changed to the Gnome "foot" (although the menu seemed unaffected). This logo reverted to the Ubuntu Mate one after logging out and back in again. Not important,
