i dont have this bug, but I confirm that on upgrade to the version below of
kernel, i lose nvidia driver unless I do the following

I'm using 2.6.24-12-generic
upgraded from feisty fresh install to hardy dev version (as of todays
versions). Same
I agree, they are definitely very similar. My bug was actually
occurring with both the generic and the rt kernels (I'm wanting to jam
with UbuntuStudio too). Both the generic and the rt kernels work with
the latest nvidia driver if I add Option NvAGP 0 to the xorg.conf
file. I'm not sure
The NvAGP option sets whether or not the xserver will use the NVIDIA AGP
module instead of the kernel agpgart module - see
