What do you expect? Reloading includes rebuilding the package cache,
which requires some cpu power. How long does it take?

Oh sorry, ugly bug report. I was talking about hardy, latest synaptic
(0.61ubuntu7).
It doesn't hang, it runs as normal but the cpu jumps to full power.
