I took a look, and I've actually scavenged that box for parts; it's not
in any condition to run anything right now. I can install the 8.10
Release Candidate on a different box with an NVidia card. It's not the
same card, but it suffered from the same problem: When I installed 8.04

One additional comment. I disabled the Ubuntu restricted NVidia driver
and installed the 173.08 Beta driver from NVidia's site.
This fixed the massive corruption of Metacity decorations under Compiz,
but hasn't fixed the TV-out issue, leading me to believe that the issue
is with Ubuntu 8.04, not
