Same issue here. Inkscape 0.46 and Ubuntu 8.04 final release. With compiz (and emerald) running, Inkscape cannot be used as the toolbar keeps appearing and disappearing everytime a click is made anywhere in the window. If I change to Metacity, everything works normally. Just wanted to add that
