Since landscape-client is a proper Ubuntu package nowadays, this should
be moot.
Also, Apport now provides the option to file bugs against an upstream
product (e. g. for PPA versions) if you ship a package hook that sets
CrashDB. Please see /usr/share/doc/apport/package-hooks.txt.gz and
How can I reliably crash Landscape-client to test this now ? :)

I could test this in all versions mentioned (8.04.2 LTS, Intrepid), I'll
look into reproducing this.

This is solved for intrepid now regarding policykit-gnome which was
being installed before because of the Recommends. The dependency has
been changed to Suggests, which no longer pulls in policykit-gnome by
default.

For Intrepid, this is *almost* resolved. There is a new ticket for a
related problem that showed up because of a change in how apt-get deals
with Recommends, which are now installed. See bug #250619

Andreas, it's been another 3 weeks now and no updates on this bug.
Can anyone provide an update on this ? I am also interested in knowing
how this would make it into Hardy, we already missed one point release.

on. Thus adding support for Origin: Canonial would be introducing a
special case into the code. Certainly possible, but I'd really like to
avoid it.
Also, if the real thing is not in Ubuntu proper, apport should *not*

Considering we are dealing with a problem that will span an entire LTS, I'd
vote for an exception in the code unless there is any other cleaner
alternative. Fixing this in Intrepid is fine but we are risking keeping this
odd bug in a much bigger user base than before.

We will push landscape-client into hardy as well, sorry I wasn't clear
before. It's just we will do it for intrepid first.
