It's an error to [try to] rename standard folders because there may exist
references to their files.
That is why xdg-user-dirs does not rename nonempty folders.
But this is indeed inconvenient and there is a
Confirmed by upstream. Will link upstream bug soon.

This bug is now reported to upstream. Since Freedesktop doesn't have a
LP project, I set Debian as the project name but the actual upstream

Sebastian, I am having this error in Jaunty Alpha 6 and I cannot find
the duplicate bug, I reopen this one.
Some more information:
Empty folders are correctly localized, but not the non-empty ones.

Public bug reported:
Changed my language and restared ubuntu. New window came up asking if I
want to change the names of folders inside Home to names in the other
language. Confirmed. When changed the language back to english and
restared the folders didn't change back to english names.
