Public bug reported:
upon updating kernel during the ubuntu gutsy to heron upgrade (version
7.10 to 8.04), the sound drivers seem not to function as they did in the
older kernel. the sound comes out all garbled and sounds like my sound
card is broken but upon reverting to the older kernel, the sound returns
to a quality state
