I can't see anything wrong in the output of that command.
I'm closing this bug report but feel free to reopen it if you manage to
reproduce the problem again.

ls -lR /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/177.76/ output.txt
and attach the output.txt file which will be created in the same
directory as the one in which you typed the command.

I was able to restore my graphics with apt-get install --reinstall
nvidia-177-kernel-source. It seems to me that during upgrades, the
order of installing the module's config files and running dkms is
incorrect.
