Ok I had a deeper look in /usr/sbin/esmtpd and found there is a request for ulimit. So I looked into /etc/courier/esmtpd and the variable ULIMIT was set to 4096. I changed this to the same value as in imapd: 65536 But this is only a workaround. I would like to know how this could/can happen,
