Hi, I know its been quite some time on this bug, but I'm cleaning up old
ntp bugs atm to get a better view.
The option has been there all the time in ntpdate.
Over all the time it did never become more than a wishlist and nobody else ever
asked for it.
Since the switch to systemd default

Oh,I'm sorry. I've misdeemed.
-u option was necessary when I tried to use ntpdate with firewall.
So I've used -u option since then.
Now, I executed ntpdate ntpdate-debian command without -u option.
They could access ntpserver with firewall(ufw) without -u option.
