I seem to be having the same issue as described above. As I am browsing in Firefox and start to sue the middle wheel button to scroll up or down in a website the entire system just locks up and I get no response and am forced to manually restart the machine. Command: uname -a Response: Linux

Does that mean: Nobody is going to find the root cause of my (our - there are lots of us...) problem, using hardware purchased specifically because it was claimed to work with Linux? There is no logical reason to hope or expect future releases (Intrepid later) to fix a problem which has not

For information: I just installed Opera browser (some people suggested it was more stable). I booted kernel 2.6.24-21 (without backports) opened only Opera. In less than 5 minutes of intensive browsing (Google News pages) I got the usual kernel panic. So I guess the title of this bug report

I just confirmed the bug by booting 2.6.24-21 kernel (without backports...) it froze in Firefox in less than 1 minute. 2.6.24-22 kernel (with backports...) has been working with no problem for 12 days. 2.6.24-19 kernel (with backports...) worked with no problem for 3 months. So I can easily

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I guess this should be a bug in the kernel (linux). If only firefox would crash, you could just restart firefox and go on. Unfortunately we can't fix it without more information. Please include the following

Thanks for your rapid response. Please be patient as bug reporting is all new to me! I agree this is not a specific Firefox problem. It seems to be a RT2561 problem but appears mostly in Firefox. I just ran the items you requested, this with 2.6.24-22 kernel with backports module installed.
