Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx
I am currently using the fglrx driver on Ubuntu 8.10. I installed/selected it using the dialog at 'System' -> 'Administration' -> 'Hardware'. When switching to a second user on another VT by using the user switch applet it shows the login screen of GDM, but scrambled. Typing the username/password loads Gnome which is similarly scrambled. lspci -v: 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS482 [Radeon Xpress 200M] Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device 010f Flags: bus master, 66MHz, medium devsel, latency 255, IRQ 17 Memory at d4000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M] I/O ports at 9000 [size=256] Memory at d0100000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K] [virtual] Expansion ROM at d0120000 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2 Kernel driver in use: fglrx_pci Kernel modules: fglrx, radeonfb apt-cache policy xorg-driver-fglrx xorg-driver-fglrx: Installed: 2:8.543-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 2:8.543-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 2:8.543-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/restricted Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- fglrx + "switch user" scrambles screen on ATI 200M https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312478 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
